The collection consists of two official Georgia documents from 1872, one on Executive Department letterhead and the other signed by Georgia Secretary of State David G. Cotting engaging New York lawyer Thomas L. Snead to act in its behalf on the matter; six Western Union telegraphs, including three from Gov. James M. Smith, instructing Snead and forwarding payment for services, 1873-1877; four autograph drafts for legal documents by Snead; example of Snead's letter informing potential clients that he has completed work with the "Public debt of Georgia"; autograph letter signed by E. A. Fletcher dated 14 March 1871 outlining details of railroad bonds held by J. Milbank and Pierpont Morgan; two related newspaper clippings.
